LTE Clause 8 Instrument Setup

This topic describes the instrument setup when using a PXB configuration or an external fader.

The instrument setup figures below show a multiple instrument setup because the Clause 8 performance tests vary in the number of test signals. But In a test setup where only one signal is required, ignore the instrument setup for the additional signal generators. When only one connection to eNB is required, check whether a termination is needed on the unused ports.

After setting up the instruments, refer to the tutorial for configuring the test using the Test Case Manager software.

PXB Instrument Setup

The number of needed signal generators is dependent upon the number of receive antennas for eNB as required by the test. For more information, refer to 3GPP TS 36.141.

External Fader Instrument Setup

The external fader, while a selection within the test settings, is not supported by the software. For more information on using an external fader, see the Unsupported Instruments topic.

Ensure that the test signal amplitudes account for loss due to cables, connections, and combiner. To compensate for these losses, see the Configuring the Signal Generator tutorial.

MXG/EXG 2-4

E-UTRA Interferer/Interferer(s) when it is a requirement of the test:

  • use only the number signal generators required by the test (one for each test signal)

  • if there are no interferers, then ignore these signal generators in the setup
